Instructions for completing survey questions over the phone
Please call (919) 445-4681 if you would like to answer any of these questions over the phone. You will be directed to a UNC secure voicemail box. You can leave as many voicemail messages as you would like, but be sure to tell us your password each time.
1. Please choose a single password that you will use to identify yourself and your survey.
You will be asked to enter this password when you enter your information to receive a gift card at the end of the online survey as well. Please say this password anytime you leave a message on the study voicemail. You do not need to leave any other information about yourself.
**Please choose a unique password, so that we do not confuse your survey with anyone else’s. Using an easily duplicated password (such as “password” or “survey”) may delay delivery of your gift card.
2. Please answer the questions below on voicemail:
You may leave multiple messages, but just be sure you include your unique password each time. Each message is limited to 20 minutes.
Please tell us, with each response, if it is okay to use your audio. You can also tell us to share your story with somebody else reading it aloud, or ask us not to share your story publicly.
Question 1: Choosing a healthcare provider
How and why did you choose your maternity healthcare provider? Have you been happy with your healthcare provider or team? Why or what not?
Question 2: Making it to appointments
Sometimes during pregnancy and after delivery, birthing parents do not attend all of their medical appointments. Have you attended all your appointments? If so, what was that like? If not, what impacted when you chose to attend maternity healthcare appointments and how often you attended?
We are interested in your feelings about appointments and what made attending possible (or easier) or impossible (or hard).
Question 3: What makes a provider trustworthy?
Please tell us a little bit about what makes a maternity care provider (a doctor, nurse, midwife, a care team, or anyone else) trustworthy, in your opinion. Tell us about a time when someone providing you with maternity care showed you that they were trustworthy. Tell us about a time when someone providing you with care showed that they were not trustworthy?
Question 4: Technology and maternity care
Telehealth is when your healthcare provider uses technology like the phone or videoconferencing to connect with you. We are interested in what you like or don’t like about these remote appointments.
Have you had any experiences with using telehealth for maternity care? If so, how do you feel about it? Were there aspects of the appointment that were better than in-person visits? Were there aspects that were worse? We are interested in what you like and what you don’t like about telehealth. If not, how would you feel about using telehealth for your maternity care? Why?
Question 5: What’s on your mind?
Please tell us anything you would like to share about your experiences with maternity healthcare. Is there anything we didn’t ask that you want healthcare teams or those who determine the ways that healthcare services are set up to know?
